Activities we will be doing

Stacey: Playing happily in large groups and settling at activities
Abi: Showing care and concern for others

 

Things you could try at home

Stacey: To see if they can settle when playing with certain toys
Abi: Role play with dolls, cuddling etc

Communication, language and literacy

Activities we will be doing

Stacey: Using words to create short phrases
Abi: Using 10 clear words

 

Things you could try at home

Stacey/Abi: Encourage children to put words together

 

This helps children understand / learn about

Problem solving, reasoning and numeracy

Activities we will be doing

Stacey: Using the mirror to look at our own reflection
Abi: To use descriptive words when talking in play e.g. more, lots, all gone etc.

 

Things you could try at home

Stacey: Looking in mirrors and talk about what they can see
Abi: Using descriptive words with the children e.g. when eating more

Knowledge and understanding of the world

Activities we will be doing

Stacey: Practising our peers names
Abi: Describe and talk about what can be seen and heard e.g. cloud

 

Things you could try at home

Stacey: To ask about their friends at the nursery
Abi: Ask the children what objects there are around the room

Physical development

Stacey: Be able to walk backwards
Abi: To show awareness of own needs e.g. getting tissue and wipe nose

 

Things you could try at home

Stacey: To see if they can walk backwards when playing in the garden
Abi: Encourage children to tell you when their nappy needs changing

Stacey: To show practitioner and peers what they have done or can do
Abi: To copy an adult doing something in play e.g. making small world animals run

Stacey: To encourage them to show you what they have done
Abi:To pretend to make a cup of tea, encourage children to copy in home corner/role play
