'Gruffalo play'

by Kay Folland 26. February 2010 14:12

As you know we have been focusing on the ‘Gruffalo’ play this week and continuing this next week as well.

The children have been very engaged in acting out their parts and learning their own lines (for the children that wanted a speaking part.)

We will be doing this play for parents to come and watch their wonderful achievements on Friday 5th March at 4.30pm in the Racing Racoons. Hope you can make it; Lizzy and myself are really exited.

Also this week the children have really enjoyed our ‘Achievement board’. We have done this every day to praise the children’s achievement of that day e.g. helping tidy up or good art work.  This is part of our group time sitting and talking about this together then writing their achievement onto a hand, the children can then put this onto our ‘Achievement hand tree’.

The children can take this home at the end of the day.

Its a shame james has been off this week as he loves the Gruffalo (and the Gruffalo's child) and knows them word for word!
I'm sure he will enjoy this on his return next week.

Niamh has loved exploring different aspects of The Gruffalo which she knows off by heart. She has particularly enjoyed bringing the story to life through her art work, and the Gruffalo Picnic.
Please keep this type of activity running as it's so nice to see the children being mentally stimulated and challenged Smile

Adam is really excited about the play and it has been lovely to see that he has been in a rush to get to school again.

Adam also loves the hand prints and we have started to make a wall at home where he can seem them.

Thanks Kay and Lizzie

I’m so glad all the children are enjoying this and talking to you about what we are doing at home. They all seem so excited at nursery and inputting lots with everything we are doing.
We will be continuing ‘The Gruffalo’ for the rest of this week, and all the children have got a part in ‘our play’.

Thanks again for your comments it is so nice to read them.

Thank you Kay and Lizzy.

Hi Kay & Lizzie,

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed The Gruffalo Play this afternoon. It was clear to see how much effort you both, and the children, had invested into this project.

Keep up the good work!

Natasha Smile
