The garden - The outside room?

by Rebecca Platt 11. July 2009 02:31

I'm doing a lot of work, as part of my role in my Level 6, on how we can really make the outside an extension of each room.  We are planning to zone the garden and give the children the responsibility of flowing freely between the rooms and the patio and grassed area.  We are zoning the garden, we've already got a sensory area, teepee, sandpit, climbing frame and balancing beams but with the new zoning the children will have clear areas for different types of play.  We will be making an art area, contrustion corner, quiet area, a music zone (not next to the quiet area) and a role play area.

What this space for more on this exciting project.

Just thinking along the lines of encouraging the children to be more environmentally aware (I know you do great things making use of old tyres for growing potatoes in etc), does the nursery use a composter?  Also, Nate (like many little boys Im sure) has a fascintion with insects and in particular worms. How about using a wormery?
